"Some Things To Consider Later" Official Transcript Episode 3 Aired October 6, 2006 ANNOUNCER: This is BOR, Public Radio. ("SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER LATER" THEME MUSIC) ROBERT SCHEINSTEIN, HOST: This is "Some Things To Consider Later." It's ten minutes past the hour. MELISSA WORTHINGTON, CO-HOST: No, it's not. SCHEINSTEIN: What? WORTHINGTON: It's not ten minutes past the hour. It's only five. SCHEINSTEIN: Look, my watch says ten. WORTHINGTON: Well, it's wrong. My watch says it's five. SCHEINSTEIN: This watch was given to me by Herr Sigmund Messerschmidt the Royal Chancellor of Germany in 1952. It is made by Scheidenfreud, one of the foremost watch-makers in the world. It is worth more than you made all year. When it says it's ten minutes past the hour, it's ten minutes past the hour. WORTHINGTON: I don't care if it was made by Jesus Christ himself, it's wrong. SCHEINSTEIN: Fine, we'll settle this. Hey, Howard, call up NASA, would you? Ask them what their atomic clocks say. What's that? Oh, I see. It's six minutes past the hour. And Melissa has a big mouth. WORTHINGTON: And now for our top story, a world-famous CEO has left retirement to spend less time with his family. Our financial correspondent, Jeweep Kikigger has this report. JEWEEP KIKIGGER: Richard Carrington, former CEO of multi-billion dollar corporation GalaxyCom, has announced that he will leave retirement. Carrington retired six months ago, but will return to head GalaxyCom for another five years. In the press conference, Carrington stated that he left retirement to spend less time with his family. (BEGIN AUDIO) CARRINGTON: In the last six months, I have traveled the world with my wife and children. This experience has taught me what a truly annoying family I have. Anything I can do to get away from them would be welcome. (END AUDIO) KIKIGGER: Warren Riggs, CEO of RK Meyers and close personal friend of Carrington, echoed his sentiments. (BEGIN AUDIO) RIGGS: I've spent many evenings with Carrington and his family, and I don't blame him one bit. His daughter is a complete airhead, and all his wife talks about is re-decorating the house. And don't even get me started on his mother-in-law. There's only so much a man can take. (END AUDIO) KIKIGGER: Carrington plans to spend eighty hours a week on the job for the next five years, which will give him very little time to see his family. Carrington's wife Martha Carrington released her own statement supporting his decision, and promising to spend less time re-decorating in the future. For BOR Public Radio, this is Jeweep Kikigger. ANNOUNCER: "Some Things To Consider Later" is brought to you by the new Volkswagen Beetle. The New Beetle by Volkswagen. It's not just for Nazis anymore. This is BOR Public Radio.
